GROSSGLOCKNER HIGH ALPINE ROAD BAUMGARTLKOPF Views of vast scenery mountains and gleaming glaciers View of 30 three-thousanders from Edelweissspitze FROM THE Edelweiss-Spitze to the Baumgartlkopf The car park at the Edelweissspitze vantage point is the starting point for this tranquil tour. The walk starts off with a descent, which may be one reason why hardly anyone thinks to do this beautiful ridge walk. This beautiful elevated hike leading along the edge of the Piffkar special conservation area features a stunning panorama with a constant view of the south east side of the mighty Wiesbachhorn and – apart from the bustle at the parking lot – almost complete solitude. From Edelweissspitze to the east, take a steep downhill path along the ridge (signpost for Baumgartlkopf) to a pass. Continue on the sometimes narrow ridge to a wide sloping meadow.
